The Menopause MOT is suitable for anyone experiencing menopause symptoms
During your initial consultation we will have a thorough chat about your medical history (including HRT), menstrual history, menopause symptoms, goals, lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, hydration and exercise/activity levels.
The assessment will include assessment of your breathing, posture and functional movement and strength. An optional vaginal examination will also be offered to assess the function of your pelvic floor muscles, general health of your vulva tissues and any signs of pelvic organ prolapse.
You will be given lots of advice, education and guidance about how to improve your symptoms and why they might be happening. And exercises to improve your pelvic, brain, muscle and bone health to help you to thrive in this important time in your life.
There are many symptoms of menopause – it can be interesting to look at a symptom checklist such as this one to note if your symptoms could be related to changes due to perimenopause / menopause.
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy can help symptoms related to perimenopause and post menopause including:
- Genitourinary syndrome of menopause – symptoms affecting the vulva, vagina and lower urinary tract due to low oestrogen levels, such as vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, urinary issues
- Musculoskeletal issues – muscle or joint aches and pains, changes in strength and mobility
- Bladder and bowel issues
- Pelvic Organ Prolapse
