Welcome

Wellspring Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is a specialist Women’s Health clinic in Mid Cornwall led by Ruth Bennett, a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Women’s Pelvic Health.

Issues such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, painful intercourse and pain during pregnancy are really common and many women do not seek help because they feel embarrassed or don’t know that help is available to them.

Ruth’s mission is to educate, reassure and empower women to feel in control of their pelvic health, to be able to break free from conditions that may be limiting their daily activities and overall wellbeing.

Ruth offers Pelvic Health Physiotherapy and her specialist MOTs – Pregnancy MOT, Mummy MOT and Menopause MOT appointments, to support women through all stages of life. She has also trained in Pregnancy Massage and loves offering this well deserved and nurturing treatment to expectant mums – see Services below for more information.

Ruth runs weekly Pilates and Pre/Post Natal Yoga classes during term times. Her inclusive, safe and fun classes are a lovely way to maintain and improve your health and fitness, whilst joining a supportive community of women/mums-to-be/new mummas!

Ruth recognises that the conditions she addresses are often deeply personal and sensitive in nature. She takes great care to create a comfortable, non-judgemental environment where patients feel safe to discuss their concerns openly and honestly.

Your appointment will involve a detailed chat about any concerns that you have, your health history and your goals. You will then have an assessment which is likely to include looking at your breathing, posture, functional movement and core abdominal and pelvic floor function (optional internal vaginal assessment if required). From this Ruth will then work with you to create an individualised treatment programme which may include movement, strength work, pelvic floor exercises, bladder and bowel management advice, manual therapy, soft tissue work, mindfulness, breathwork and many other treatment methods.

You do not need to put up with your symptoms! There is so much that can be done to improve your quality of life!

About me

Ruth Bennett

Specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist

Hi! I’m Ruth,

I am a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist based near Truro in Cornwall.

I am so passionate about educating women in how to prevent and treat pelvic health issues such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain, which can really get us down and affect our everyday lives. With the right education, advice and treatment strategies, symptoms can really improve!!

It is a privilege to work with women through pregnancy and the post natal period – being a mum myself I am well aware that this can be a time when we can feel quite alone and notice so many changes to our bodies. We often have a lot of unanswered questions around this time and it is important to me that you get the support that you deserve. I am a certified Mummy MOT practitioner and also a Pregnancy Massage Therapist so there are many ways that I can help you through the peri-natal period!

Perimenopause and menopause often brings another time of transformation and changes within the female body and I’m also really passionate about helping women to feel empowered about their pelvic health through this time.

If in doubt please feel free to contact me prior to booking your appointment to find out what the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy involves and how I might be able to help you.

I am also a Pilates teacher (APPI – the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute trained) and a Pre & Post Natal Yoga Instructor and teach weekly classes in Pilates, Pregnancy Yoga and Mum & Baby Yoga in Devoran, Cornwall.

I am constantly learning and improving on my knowledge and skills to make sure I’m up to date on the research and so I can keep offering my patients the best quality services and care that I can.

Can't recommend enough! I went for a Mummy MOT with Ruth, 7 weeks after an unplanned cesarean. I'm hoping to get back into running and trying to find my fitness confidence again- Ruth was the help that I needed! She was friendly and professional all rolled into one, a very thorough 360 session, excellent knowledge, encouraging and adaptable. You can take your little one with you if you're struggling for child care, which is an added bonus! Thanks Ruth, see you again soon! 🙂

Calm, reassuring, knowledgeable treatment that really helped me. I’m writing this review a few months after seeing Ruth and I am still using her advice and feeling stronger every day. Women often belittle their own feelings and symptoms around their ‘inner workings’ as if there’s certain things we just have to put up with as women ( and yes I’m talking about bladder problems and prolapse and all of those joyful things!). But we deserve knowledge and help and support - I found this money very well spent, and it’s been really valuable.

I found Ruth via google searching for physios who specialise with post natal care. I later found out a friend had seen her also and rated her highly.
I had the Mummy MOT and it was well worth it. I have had 3 sessions of post natal physio with the NHS and a similar number privately but this one session with Ruth (about 90 mins) was more in depth, knowledgeable and supportive than all those previous sessions.
The report that she sends is comprehensive and detailed and has given me what I wanted - a way forward using functional exercises.
She is easy to talk to, the space is welcoming and you’ll come away informed & inspired.

I am so glad I booked a mummy MOT with Ruth. At 12 weeks post partum, I wanted to return to exercise but felt slightly anxious if my body was ready. She was incredibly thorough and taught me so much about how and why my body had changed throughout pregnancy and delivery. I now have the knowledge to train safely in a way that is right for my body. Thank you 😊

I went for a Mummy MOT with Ruth, 12 weeks post-partum. I was still experiencing pain from labour and wanted to know what could help. Ruth was kind, friendly, respectful and professional. I’ve come away with a better understanding of my body (especially the pelvic floor) and ways I can support my body through exercises and massage, which is great. I am so glad to also be able to go to Ruth for continued support as well. I highly recommend a Mummy MOT, however long ago you had your baby.

I enjoyed my visit to Ruth, she was very informative. I had to take along my baby and he was fussing but Ruth was very patient and had enough time booked for us. My check up was very thorough and Ruth made me feel really comfortable throughout. The exercises she gave me were really useful and explained really well.
